Meet our Curator

Sissi M. - Founder, Ongi

Sissi Marie has spent over two decades in the quiet, intimate work of transformation, the kind that happens strand by strand, in the space between a client and her reflection.

Trained as a full esthetician, Sissi's foundation is rooted in the whole person: the skin, the scalp, the body's relationship to beauty. That holistic lens shapes everything she does at Ongi, from the way she reads a scalp before a single snip to the care she takes selecting every product that enters the studio.

Her specialty is connection. Whether through the scalp, the spine, or through color. Specifically, the art of reading hair's history and returning it to its most luminous, most intentional state is her gift. Whether untangling years of damage through corrective work, guiding a client through her first sacred gray transition, or building dimension through the Obangsaek color philosophy, Sissi approaches every service as a ceremony rather than a transaction.

Certified in Korean Hygee Scalp Massage, she brings a rare technical precision to scalp health , treating the root as the foundation of everything that grows from it. She also offers simple attunements woven gently into sessions for clients who want their time in the chair to extend beyond the physical, a quiet recalibration of energy alongside the transformation of form.

At Ongi, Sissi has built something rare: a studio where slowing down is the practice, where intention has meaning, and where your hair is read before it is touched. The goal is never ‘just’ a beautiful result, rather a total beautiful experience of becoming.

To Sissi, every ritual is personal.

Every client is a ceremony.

Rooted in Tradition

In Korean tradition, ongi refers to handcrafted earthenware vessels used to preserve and transform ingredients over time. Inspired by this philosophy, ONGI embraces the belief that meaningful transformation happens through patience, intention, and care. Just as an ongi vessel nurtures a process of renewal, each ritual is designed to support beauty, restoration, and personal transformation.
